Who We Are
The Divine Assembly is a religion based on one simple tenet of autonomous worship. Individuals can fully worship on their own and, at times, as an active part of TDA's healthy, interconnected community. But, at all times, the individual is sovereign.
TDA’s one tenet is:
Each individual can commune directly with the Divine and receive guidance.
TDA’s tenet recognizes:
Worship needs no dogma
Worship requires no intermediaries, leaders, or hierarchy
TDA never conducts activities or ceremonies or shares sacraments. Never. Rather, if and when they choose, individuals independently convert TDA’s single tenet into activities, gatherings, and ceremonies. None of these events are sanctioned or approved by a central authority. There is no central authority. Again, TDA is simply the one tenet. How individuals exercise that tenet, what they create with that tenet, and the community that forms around that tenet, constantly shape and reshape TDA community. All of it is optional. Some TDA members and activities might be a fit for you and much of it will not be. You get to decide, as you put form and practice toward autonomously living the tenet. You are in charge of you.
What is the Divine like?
You get to discover and decide this.
How is the Assembly organized?
Individuals can commune directly with the Divine and receive personal guidance. With that, there is not a need for clergy to stand between a worshiper and the Divine to interpret or explain. Members enjoy autonomy to worship and commune as they see fit. This means that each individual can have unmitigated communion with their Divine. In most religions, the founder alone is allowed such freedom, while adherents are expected to stay within the boundaries prescribed by the founder’s vision.
Where does the Divine Assembly meet?
TDA members are free to safely and autonomously worship anywhere they choose, individually or in groups. No authorization or coordination is needed. Independent ceremonies can be as varied as imagination, creativity, and inspiration allow. Be aware, however, that TDA does not vouch for ANY sacrament ceremonies. It is a red flag, if anyone claims otherwise.
What is the mission of the Divine Assembly?
The Divine Assembly is a religion devoted to autonomous worship. Each individual is spiritually autonomous and is encouraged to develop an individualized experience with the Divine. Individualized, autonomous communion with the Divine is not limited by the experiences, beliefs, or teachings of anyone else. Also, the broader TDA community is the product of individual members connecting as they deem appropriate.
Is psilocybin TDA’s sacrament?
Again, members enjoy religious autonomy to connect with the Divine. Psilocybin mushrooms are a sacrament to many of TDA’s members. But, they are not a mandatory sacrament. Some members worship with other sacraments.
Why psychedelic sacraments?
Psychedelic sacraments are ancient and pervasive across many cultures. Humans have long known that psychedelics can occasion mystical states of consciousness where they can encounter and worship the Divine and receive guidance and healing. This is pure religion. Again, though, sacraments are not mandatory.
How do I obtain the psilocybin sacrament?
TDA does not provide any sacraments or sacrament ceremonies. TDA members independently plan and conduct sacrament ceremonies.
Is TDA a church?
Yes
Are psychedelic sacraments legal?
Laws protect sincerely-held religious beliefs, including the sacramental use of psychedelics. To secure that legal protection for religious use, worshipers must be safe and sincere. Please read our section on Legal Worship.
Why is safety emphasized?
Addiction and abuse-potential of classic psychedelics are extremely low. Nevertheless, if used improperly, psychedelics can cause real harm, such as psychological trauma or physical endangerment. Also, while in mystical states of consciousness, worshipers are vulnerable. Therefore, TDA insists that safety protocols be properly observed, including preparation and integration procedures. If individuals are in danger or have been harmed, law enforcement and proper authorities should be contacted. DO NOT HIDE HEALTH CONCERNS. DO NOT HIDE SEXUAL ASSAULT. Hiding problems works to condone and perpetuate problems. TDA is not pretending in any way about religious sincerity or our strict insistence on safety.
How do I join the Divine Assembly?
Simple. If you share the belief that individuals can commune with the Divine and commit to obey safety protocols, just provide your name and email. According to the Constitution, the government can never make TDA turn over the membership list. If, however, you are nervous about providing your name and email, no problem. Create a new email account and provide the new name you take as a worshipper.
Do I need to pay any money?
Nope. To help build TDA and fund its work, donations are encouraged, solicited, and much appreciated, but they are not required. The Divine Assembly is a religious organization open to all. It relies entirely on voluntary donations.
Do I need a membership card?
Nope. But a card can help show your religious sincerity and the centrality of mushrooms to your worship.
Can I really perform a marriage?
Yes, you can! Details are found HERE.
